Day 0 - What's in the bag?

My bag is packed and I'm off to return to a place called home...Ireland. Matt will be working the first week for Apple while we are in Cork. I'll be visiting a few of my favorite spots in the area. After Matt's done with work, I'll share with him a few of my favorite places on the West coast, then we are off to explore a new part of the world for us both...Scotland. The weather will be a bit unpredictable, but hopefully Mother Nature will be kind to us. We have a lot of hiking planned. So here's the list for my 26 day trip:

• 2 pairs convertible pants
• 1 pair yoga pants (comfy for plane ride)
• 1 pair waterproof pants
• 3 thermal shirt liners
• 3 thermal tops
• 4 regular quick dry shirts
• 1 pair thermal pants
• 1 knit beanie hat (made of New Zealand possum)
• 1 knit scarf (made of New Zealand possum)
• 1 pair of gloves
• 1 fleece & waterproof jacket set
• 1 rain poncho
• 1 pair PJs (quick dry)
• 7 pairs of underwear
• 4 pairs of socks
• 4 pairs of sock liners
• 1 pair compression socks
• 1 pair of boots
• 2 travel towels
• 1 First Aid Kit
• 1 bag of toiletries & medications
• Cutter Insect repellant wipes (it's midge season)
•  fabreeze, detergent packets, braided laundry line, ziplock bags
• 1 iphone, 1 Kindle, 1 ipad Mini, 1 DSL camera, 1 wide angle lens, 1 macro lens
• 1 pair sunglasses
• 3 compression bags • protein bars
• 1 CamelBack water bottle
• 1 Rabbit*

Weight of main backpack = 30 lbs**
Weight of small backpack = 13 lbs

* "RABBIT" has traveled to every country with me since 1997. He belonged to my dad and sat on his night stand. After he passed away, I put RABBIT into my backpack and he has traveled the world with me. He has been to 40 countries. Scotland will be his 41st.

** This is a new backpack. I'm giving it a try. It is a convertible backpack that has wheels, a frame and pull handle. Since we won't be hopping on and off trains, I thought I'd give wheels a try and give my shoulders a break. The frame and wheels make the bag 5 lbs heavier than my old one. If I do have a reason to convert it to a backpack, I'm sure to notice the addition 5lbs. I'm leaving the REI tags on (tucked in) in case my new bag and I do not bond.
